“I was looking for places in Washington, but I couldn’t find any,” he joked, referring to the false rumor about the Devils trading him to the Capitals for Alexander Semin. “My kids were coming to me asking if we are moving to Washington.”

All joking aside, Brodeur was said he never concerned that the rumor was true. He has a no-trade clause anyway, so he would have to pre-approve any deal – not that he expects to have to.

“I have my fate in my own hands,” he said. “I think we’ve made it pretty clear with the organization and they’ve made it pretty clear with me that I would know about it long before it would ever get in the newspapers—if it ever were to happen. And I doubt it’s ever going to happen.”
